Veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty says he is not only excited about his forthcoming
historical epic 'Pazhassi Raja', but also has huge expectations from the movie that is dubbed inthree languages.'Of course, I'm really waiting for it because it is one Malayalam film which is likely to have a nationalrelease as it is dubbed in Hindi, Telegu and Tamil. Lot of hard work has gone into the film by eachone associated with it,' Mammootty told IANS.
It's a Ramadan month and despite being a devout Muslim, the veteran actor is busy moving fromone set to another and running from one dubbing studio to another.
'Rain or sun, I have a job in hand and I do it with all my sincerity. Right now I'm driving towardsChennai to complete the dubbing of the Tamil version of 'Pazhassi Raja'. Due to lack of time I'm notdoing the Telegu and Hindi dubbing,' said Mammootty.
Scripted by M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan, the film is set in the 18th century and is about Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja of the Padinjare Kovilakom of the Kottayam family. Irked by the

In short, Pazhassi Raja's was one of the first voices to be raised against British rule in India and he was one of the first freedom fighters, but not many people are aware of this outside Kerala.
After a gap of 20 years, Nair, Hariharan and Mammootty have come together for the film. The triolast time teamed up for 'Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha' and created magic on celluloid. The film fetchedthe actor his first of the three national awards.'Since I'm the hero of the film, I will certainly be involved in all sort of promotion of the film. This is the first Malayalam film which will have a national release and of course, I'm excited. But I'm
certainly being apprehensive too, because too much expectation is not a good thing,' said
Mammootty.
'Resul Pookutty has designed the sound and we were together last week and he too appears to be happy. Any way, now we will wait,' said Mammootty.

Pazhassi Raja has significance on national level

Pazhassi Raja, one of the most eagerly awaited films of the recent times, is based on epic proportions. The mega-budget film (made at a budget never heard of before in Malayalam Cinema), has none other than Mammootty in title role. The National award winning actor met Screen at Palani (Pazhani), where he was shooting for his new film, Chattambinaaduv How did this film happen, with you, Hariharan and M.T.Vasudevan Nair coming together after so long, a gap of time? It was twenty years back, in 1989, that we had got together to make Oru Vadakkan …, which was taken from the folklores of Kerala. The film got many awards and I got the National award for that movie , along with of course Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s film too. And after that, we were thinking of doing another film on the same lines. We thought of many stories from the folklore. Then we started thinking of a historical. But the thing was that earlier Kerala was divided into many smaller kingdoms and hence there were not many war hero

Death of Pazhassi Raja - The resistance movement in north Kerala came to an end

Thomas Harvey Babar, a young British officer came as the sub collector of Thalassery in 1804 and was assigned the responsibility of suppressing the Pazhassi revolution. In April, he issued a directive making it illegal for the local population to help the revolutionaries and he also mandated that the British should be informed about the movements of the revolutionaries. On June 16, a reward was announced for the capture of Pazhassi and his commanders and soon Thalakkal Chanthu was captured. On November 1st 1805, Baber took direct charge of the operations and on November 30th Pazhassi Raja was surrounded and by the British army was shot dead. The Raja's body was cremated with "customary honours". With the death of Pazhassi Raja, the resistance movement in north Kerala came to an end. His body was taken back with respect by the British and cremated, but his death bought an end to the resistance movement. The other leaders either committed suicide or left the country. Purali
